BMW X3 2004

These are the very first pictures of BMW's upcoming X3 crossover. Based on a modified all-wheel-drive 3-Series platform and a few bits and pieces from the X5 (primarily the front axle and steering rack), this estate-styled SUV will carry over the now-familiar styling cues of its big brother, the X5.
 Although this obviously is wearing fake panels to disguise the shape and styling details, the Graz, Austria-built X3 is expected to start actual production in early 2004. Measuring in right between the 3-Series touring and the X5, the X3 is hoping to fill a narrow gap. The X3 will have more load space area than the X5.
Engines are to include a 2.2, 2.5 & 3.0 litre including the 3.0 litre diesel. The 3.6-litre M version will follow in 2005 or early 2006.
