The candidates for the ‘Semperit Irish Car of the Year 2005’ have been announced by the Irish Motoring Writers Association. The winning car will be revealed at a ceremony in the Berkeley Court Hotel on Thursday, November 18, 2004.

“The fact that we have a record 60 cars entered for the Irish Car of the Year award shows how buoyant the car market is”, commented Paddy Murphy of Semperit Ireland. “And even if car sales have slowed a little over the last couple of years, there are a lot of exciting new models that would be worthy winners of the 2005 award. With the broad range of vehicle-types available – ranging from superminis, small family cars and saloons to all-terrain vehicles and luxury models – the Motoring Writers Association will have a difficult task in choosing the winner.”
Shortlisted vehicles will be announced in early November.
The Semperit Irish Car of the Year and Van of the Year awards are adjudicated by the Irish Motoring Writers Association. Last year the Semperit Irish Car of the Year title went to the Toyota Avensis while the van accolade was won by the Volkswagen Transporter.
