NCT Results for 2001 to date
NCTS can now provide a monthly update of NCT pass/fail rates and year-to-date results for full tests and re-tests.

NCT Strike Ends
National car testing centres around the country will re-open later today (13th March) following a decision by employees to return to work.

NCT Strike Action
As of the 20th February 2001 27 NCT centres are currently closed due to strike action by the AGEMOU Trade Union.

NCT Results
The overall Nationwide Pass Rate for FULL TESTS to date (for the period 4th January to 30th November 2000) is: 47% and 290,430 cars underwent a full NCT.

NCTS to begin testing 92-96 cars
Because NCTS is obliged to test a vehicle up to 8 weeks before the anniversary of its first registration, the testing of 92-96 registered cars will begin as early as November 2000.

Preparing for the NCT
In order to pass your NCT test first time, please prepare for the test by ensuring that you have gone through the following check list.

Press Briefing on 15th Dec
On the 15th January 1999 in Fonthill NCT Centre, NCTS and the Department of Environment held their last Press briefing before the official introduction of vehicle inspection on the 4th January 2000.

High failures rates during car-testing!
Almost four in every five cars failed their tests on the first day of compulsory national car inspections yesterday, according to preliminary figures.

NCT Testing Regulations Announced
The Minster of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government, Mr. Robert Molloy, announced less stringent regulations for the National Car Test.

NCT Service contract signed
Mr Noel Dempsey T.D, Minister for the Environment and Local Government, and Madame Romaine Romanet, Chief Executive, SGS Ireland signed the contract for the establishment of the new car testing service at a ceremony in the Custom House.
